Q&A: How to play KK Overpair 5NL Texas Holdem

RJ78 from 2+2 forum asks:

I only have 17 hands on villain (UTG+1,) but they are running 76.5/12. The only hand of significance happened a few hands ago in a BvB battle:

Villain was in SB and min-raised first-in with KQs. BB Called. Flop was AQA. Villain min-bet…BB Called. Turn was a 4. Villain checked, BB bet 16BB into the 6BB pot…villain min-C/R’d to 32BB, BB min-3-bet to 48BB, villain min-4-bet which put him AI. BB called. BB of course had trips.

No-Limit Hold’em, $0.05 BB (8 handed)

BB ($5.02)
UTG ($9.75)
UTG+1 ($6)
MP1 ($11.42)
MP2 ($5.60)
CO ($2.85)
Hero ($9.93)
SB ($5.95)

Preflop: Hero is Button with K, K.
1 fold, UTG+1 calls $0.05, 2 folds, CO calls $0.05, Hero raises to $0.3, 2 folds, UTG+1 calls $0.25, CO folds.

Flop: ($0.72) 7, J, Q (2 players)
UTG+1 bets $0.25, Hero raises to $1, UTG+1 calls $0.75.

Turn: ($2.72) 8 (2 players)
UTG+1 bets $0.35, Hero ???

I hate these itty-bitty donk bets. I’m tempted to raise to pot again, but villain only has ~1.5 pot left in his stack. Should I just put him in and hope to get a call from AQ? Just call and hope he bluffs at the river with a missed FD? I have no idea what he has here.

You have to rise to $2.45 in this situation. And call a “shove”.
